     Profile

The purpose of the Ex Situ Group is to promote the use of ex situ techniques for the conservation of orchids, and to provide a source of help and advice for anyone wishing to participate.  The members represent a wide range of interests and expertise in the cultivation and propagation of orchids, and include amateur and professional growers as well as orchid scientists.  Currently, one of our aims is to promote the setting up of a global network of orchid seed and pollen banks.

IUCN/SSC Guidelines For Re-Introductions

Prepared by the SSC's Re-introduction Specialist Group
and approved by the 41st Meeting of the IUCN Council in 1995,
this is a valuable resource in re-introduction programmes,
at the interface between in situ and ex situ operations.
