Thank you for visiting us.  I am happy that the OSG, being the leading international network for orchid conservation, has its own website.  To orchidologists concerned with conservation all around the globe, this gives us an opportunity to touch base and not feel so alone and despondent in our struggles.

The South East Asia OSG was initiated in 2001 at the 1st International Orchid Conservation Congress at Perth, Australia.  As the region is diverse, member countries being Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, country representatives were invited so that they can be the focal point of members of the country.  We have had two meetings since then: 1) World Orchid Conference (Malaysia, April 2002) and 2) International Seidenfaden Orchid Symposium (Thailand, December 2002).  We are still looking for representatives from Brunei, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.  Recommendations would be most welcome.

Let's all strive for the continued existence of orchids!
